Welcome
Welcome to Photopia! My name is Paul Tanswell and I am a photographer currently working wherever the work takes me in England and Sweden. This site is part personal and part professional and aims to show some of the photographs I've taken over the years, some for money and some for fun...although thats not to say doing it for money is not fun...it is!
The site is constantly being updated and hopefully new photos will be added every day
I am passionate about all types of photography and specialise in portrait and travel. If you are interested in hiring me for a session or assignment, please email me or use the contact page to ask any questions. You can get an idea of costs and rates from the links below. Even if you only want to comment on a photo or the website, I would love to hear from you.

About Me
I'm a 'thirty something' photographer just moved to Sweden from the
UK with Cecilia and Sofia. I have been taking photographs for somewhere
around 25 years and have had a camera at least semi-permanently attached
to my body for about 15 of those!
Me, aged 3, Yeovil 1973
I consider photography to be something of a passion and hopefully
some of this will be visible in the photographs that I take.
My first photo taken 1977
After 4 great years at the University
of Kent studying Physics and French, I spent 3 unbelievable years
working at Eurodisney, Paris as a photographer where my passion was
fuelled by the unending supply of photo-opportunities that such a vibrant,
historical and colourful city provided.
I have found that similar things happen whenever I move location geographically
or meet someone new for the first time - it's like being given the
keys to a sweet shop and then being told 'help yourself'!
Travelling and photography is for me a match made in heaven, where
the world becomes the sweet shop and I become the greedy child! After
a few trips to the U.S.A. living out my fantasies of being in a road
trip movie, I took it to the extreme when I made a round the world
trip in 1997, visiting India, Nepal, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia,
Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and the U.S.A.
A year and 5-10,000 photos later I returned to England where I met
Cecilia and made Sofia (!) and now the road has taken me to Sweden
where I plan to continue my photography in whatever forms I can.
